A broker’s thoughts on Dunwoody

what-dunwoody-ga-looks-likeAbout seven years ago I moved to Dunwoody for so many great reasons and I’m glad I did. I was living in Brookhaven and more specifically the Brookhaven Fields neighborhood. I had a smaller starter home that I had done a lot of work to and the market was really good at that time. I was watching new construction homes come up for sale in and around the Ashford Park area and I didn’t not necessarily like the lot size or schools at that time. Since then Ashford Park has really come around and is an extremely popular choice for people purchasing in and around the Brookhaven area.
Lot size has not changed and that is one of the main reasons why I moved to Dunwoody and built a house. I prefer the distance between homes as well as a little bit quieter of a feel then much of the semi hustle bustle of Brookhaven.

I truly enjoy being able to walk to the Dunwoody Village and am excited that we have restaurants like wild wing and a new barbecue restaurant from Memphis opening up within a very short walking distance as well. We are also still in Deklab County and are now city of Dunwoody similar to how Brookhaven seceded and Incorporated as well.

All in all I love the accessibility to highways, shopping and good restaurants as well as local perks such as the downtown Roswell Square or our favorite hiking trails at Vickory Creek. It is also really nice to have the Chattahoochee River close by for any creek rafting, kayaking or to get my flyfishing fix in.

dunwoody-ga-homesHomes in the Dunwoody area typically start around 300k-350k .These are typically ranches or on updated two-story traditional five fours and a door. Popular school systems in the Dunwoody area include Austin, Vanderlyn and the school system that I am in which is Dunwoody elementary. Dunwoody elementary is a new school similar to how they built a school in Morningside. No real test results yet since they have not completed all grades but everything I am hearing is very positive.

New construction homes in the area are selling for around three quarters of $1 million and sometimes top 1 million. Dunwoody country club is a nice option for joining and is fairly affordable compared to most Atlanta country clubs.
